Early Years Foundation Stage Profile Moderation 2011 - 2012

 As you will be aware it is a statutory requirement that all Reception children complete the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile and that this process is moderated by the Local Authority. Moderation is carried out by a team of school based moderators and Educational Development Advisers.

You may have noticed that your EYFS profile handbook is dated 2008 - this is still the current document and should be used extensively when making judgements about your children's achievements.

The handbook contains vital information regarding procedures and guidelines.  It also contains scale points descriptors and examples to support making accurate judgements.

Early Years Foundation Stage Profile Results 2010/11 (National and Local Authority)

For all Reception Class practitioners?FS Co-ordinators and Headteachers-

National and Local Authority Early Years Foundation Profile Results can be found every October on the DfE website, go to-

These are used as a comparison to show a school's standard of attainment at the end of the Reception Year

Below is a summary of main results from 2010/2011 (to be used as National Averages for your 2012 EYFSP school outcomes)and a copy of the downloads from DfE for your information

Errata and clarification for the EYFS profile handbook

Please find attached information from QCA regarding changes to the EYFS profile handbook (available from www.naa.org.uk)

Please note particularly information relating to Linking Sounds and Letters scale point 7, which can now be achieved without first attaining LSL scale points 4,5 and 6 (refer to attached document for further details).

Guidance for 
LSL scale point 4 - children should be able to recognise at least 20/26 sounds and 14/26 names.
